Where Do You Swim

2021Video Installation

In Georgia, we have an expression: "Where do you swim?"

According to ancient myths, Zeus turned Pan — the mythological god — into a constellation as a gesture of gratitude. But where does he swim?

We know him as Capricorn, the half-goat with a fish tail. The god Pan swims in the water.

— But where does Pan swim today?
— He swims among plastic bottles.

It's the path toward apocalypse — and post-apocalypse.

According to Jesus, who turned water into wine, this work explores what drives us to the edge of the world. It is based on the ancient Georgian wine amphora: the Qvevri.

But water from plastic bottles can no longer bring us wine.

What does the mythical Pan look like in today's world?
